A great collection of short comics, including some of my favorite artists/authors.

I wanted to love this book, too. I've bhad a lot of disappointment recently. I thought, "oh this is going to be so hella awesome because I love comics and I love missed connections, and dang, what a perfect marriage!?!" But you know what? My expectations were too high. Some of the comics were quite delightful, but more of them were mediocre and some of them were just down right bad. I read this in the bathtub and nearly drowned when I fell asleep from boredom.

This is a collection of mini-comics inspired by the missed connections section of Craigslist. I had read about this book somewhere and was intrigued. Then I met the editor at New York Comic Con, bought a copy and had her sign it. As in most collections, there is some wonderful stuff, some pretty mediocre stuff and everything in between.

Maybe at some point I'll find a chance to go through and note some of the best comics.

This is bad oh so bad. So creepy and the art is meh. Reading it was excruciating. I hate it so much!!!

In addition to the fact that I'm nosey and something of a voyeur of craigslist, this book is really lovely because it demonstrates the art of understated storytelling.

Not connected to this book, but see also Sophie Blackall's weekly Missed Connections art blog: http://missedconnectionsny.blogspot.com/

back in the day - before newspapers were dying and free weeklies were a dime a dozen - i used to love reading the "missed connections" columns. so much human drama in the briefest of spaces! this collection of mini-comics takes that idea and runs with it, imagining scenarios and sketching stories based on them. like any anthology, it's hit-or-miss, although the good ones definitely outweigh the mediocre and bad ones. very enjoyable overall.

Liked the idea, but the execution was a little too much. I think sometimes with graphic novels, there's a cool idea but it can be overdone. This is that case.

However, I still love Julia Wertz despite this.

Loved it! I liked getting to experience a wide variety of comic art in one compact format. And a lot of the artists had really interesting takes on the "missed connection" idea. Definitely recommended for all comics lovers!
