Possibly the strongest entry into The High Republic series yet.

I didn’t like this one as much as the first. I enjoyed it, though, and I look forward to the next!

I'm reviewing this a while after reading it, and I can't really remember a lot about how the plot flowed in this book. I do remember really enjoying Scott's writing style, and the casual snarky Star Wars in-jokes nestled into the narration.

Dis book was crazy. Really fun to read and definitely meant to be read in a short amount of time. Loved the characters so much more this time around than in the first book. It is action packed and the disaster feels way more personal. It was still a very positive book, but there’s a lot of awesome Jedi centric questions asked that were missing in the first book. It was surprisingly violent which was interesting. It builds off of the first book marvelously. I appreciate how wide they’re making the high republic with a bunch of comics and books for younger audiences, but I almost wish it was more focused with more in depth adult books. However, so far it has seemed okay to only read the adult novels and hasn’t seemed to miss out on much. Anyway, I liked the cast of characters a lot and it is very entertaining. Much better than the first book.

Hot damn, that is one way to end a book. This was so unbelievably good, Cavan Scott might be my new favorite Star Wars author. Absolutely action-packed.

This gave me whiplash. Too many characters, locations, monsters, organizations, ship names, switching back and forth from character to character in short chapters.  And can’t they come up with more distinct and interesting names than Bell, El, Ty, Vam? You need to take notes to follow these books.
