May is turning into the month of sneaking extra middle grades books into my reading list. First I had Tight, and now Ghost Boys. I had a colleague recommend this book to me, and since she loaned me her own physical copy of it, I felt honor bound to read it promptly. I went into my reading hoping to be more impressed with this one than I was with Tight, and happily, I really, really was.

Jerome is a young black kid who was just playing in the park, yes he had a toy gun, but he got shot by the cops in the back without any warning whatsoever. He is now a ghost and he is trying to understand his death , best witness, and figure out some key thin. It goes between him as a ghost and his final day alive. Other ghosts of you g black boys tht were killed are also there. A lot of important things are said in this book . It really reminded me though tht I’m not doing enough.
