dark tense

2.0

I started out liking this book and was excited to get into a dark, bully, why-choose romance. Dark why-choose is probably my favorite romance sub-genre.

Unfortunately, I found this book to be poorly written. It didn't make sense, it wasn't compelling or believable, it was thoroughly cringy, and there was nothing to keep the reader interested outside the very few major plot points. I can't tell you how many times she hooked up and then went about the doing the same mundane tasks. Over and over.

Originally, I was planning on reading the second one but I don't think I'm going to. A small part of me wants to know what happens, but I just didn't like the first book enough to truly care.

I found what I thought was a standalone book and it was so perfect. I love the plots I love the space.

The book understood the assignment that it was given having a reverse age gap why choose romance.

Then, am so happy everything is going great until the last few paragraphs!

It ends on a cliffhanger!!!! The next book won’t be out until August! Why, just why?

These boys knew what they wanted or I should say men knew what they wanted. And got it by any means necessary. I love their dynamic. I also love that this has swords crossing.

But now we have a bigger threat looming over in the shadows, and the spread has finally stepped to a plate. Now I need to figure out why this threat is actually a threat.

I will be buying a physical copy of this book, and I cannot wait until the next book!

I don’t know what to say other than this was top tier bully romance! Heavy on the degradation and dubcon! Addams really just goes balls to the walls with her writing and I am deeply disturbed by how much I enjoy the depravity. I’m legit sort of fascinated by this book. Because there is relationship development but it so subtle that you almost miss it. But then she does a good job of having the character come back and outright validate what you think is developing. Overall this is one of those books that there isn’t something specific that I can point to that I loved but I ABSOLUTELY loved it. The one thing that kept this from being five starts is that the ending just fades out. Like you don’t  see it coming and then it’s like no more pages. It would seem that this is going to be at least a duet but I wouldn’t call the end a cliffhanger more of a to be continued.
