Quite terrible and unconvincing. Childhood trauma is not an excuse for being a toxic misogynist. Paying your employees a living wage/ providing benefits only after getting to know them and falling in love with one of them is neither character development nor redeeming.

I was in the mood at reading contemporary novel which is going to tell me about morally grey/villain as the main character and this book quite fits on the category.
Honestly, I found this book in my tiktok recommendation and almost all people hype about this book. But booktok has been letting me down so much for their recommendations that's the reason why I lower my expectation when I need to read any booktok recommendation and apperently it helps me a lot to get through this one. Does it predictable? Yes. Is it boring? Not really. Overall this book was in okay category for me.

Spoilers ahead…

Rowan needs a frickin exorcism and Zahra is too naive to see it lol. I should honestly leave the review there. But I won’t. I saw someone else say this so I can’t take complete credit for this statement but I 1000% agree: Rowan wanting to give his employees benefits, livable wages and make hiring inclusive because he fell in love with his employee does not make him a good person. His whole character development/redemption is lost on me. He is my biggest ick book boyfriend. This is a 3 book standalone series and I‘m dnf-ing the entire things because of this book.

There were definitely the clichés and this is a book you read for the tropes you love.
I could easily slip in and out of this book without losing the feels - as life right now often interrupts my reading sessions - and I really did like the writing style.

Wouldn't shelve to read again, but don't regret the time I spent reading it.
