I originally watched Demon Slayer, but am now reading it and I cannot stress how much I love the Mount Natagumo arc. The spiders masquerading as a family while we see their brutal treatment of humans gives the arc the perfect eerie tone for what is about to unfold. It majorly enforces the themes of kny: family and kindness, a moment that especially strikes me is when Tanjiro beheads the 'mother' spider. In addition to finding it well written and as a fan of horror enjoying the creepiness, I like how the main group comes together, with Zenitsu protecting Nezuko's box and the beginnings of Inosuke fighting demons with Tanjiro (as opposed to well, just fighting Tanjiro).

This is where my interest really started ramping up. I like the little cadre they're making.

as an arachnophobe, this volume was hell to get through (and I know the next one will be as well), but at least the characters are fun and made it all worthwhile (tanjiro, zenitsu and inosuke all share half a braincell and most of the time it's with tanjiro). admittedly, zenitsu's backstory made me tear up despite my very mixed feelings about him this early on in the story - honestly, those feelings didn't really change by the time I finished the anime, but I appreciate the character work. we were also briefly introduced to shinobu and reintroduced to giyuu (both of whom I love with my whole heart and soul), which was exciting! I can't wait to see more of them in the next volume.

Not sure if I will continue past this as it has slight deviation from the typical formula, as there are consequences/legitimate injuries, but still formulaic nonetheless.
