Really struggled to get into this book to start with, but really enjoyed it in the end.

it is………a very weird time in human history to read a book about the probable extinction of humanity.

This was like a very interesting concept but executed in a mediocre fashion. Paper thin characters and some plodding sections, but on balance the concept and James' exploration of it's effects on society make it worth your while
(I would say don't make comparisons to the film, the plot is unrecognizable and that is a much superior piece of art)

This book took me till about the middle to get into it. It was slow and the writing seemed hard for me to follow. However, close to the middle it did speed up and got really intense. I simply couldn't stop reading it once the storyline started coming together. I was gripped with fear and horror in a few parts and thought I must've read some of the words wrong but no...it's brutal in parts but ends with things looking somewhat better for them.
