The first sentence will capture your attention. 10 years after the deadly of a teenage girl, her best friend is wondering who is really responsible for her death.

Micah (beautiful name!) starts digging through the past. The book is told by Micah in the past. In the present she is taking a trip because at the beginning of each chapter is listed how many miles left and where she was. It quickly changes to the past story. You don’t know where she is going

I liked the variety of ways the author tells the story. First person, online chats, notes, ect. If you like solving crimes you will like this book. It is an interesting debut and I look forward to reading more by this author.

The overall Goodreads rating for this book dropped an entire star while I was reading it. I had picked it up because the rating was 4.5. It's not the worst book I have read recently, but certainly does not deserve the praise it is receiving. It is slow, tedious and goes in circles with the main character Micah. She was really unlikable and self-absorbed. Couldn't muster any empathy for her. I made it reading steadily until about halfway through the book and then skimmed my way to the end, because why suffer through more of the same. If you are struggling with this book, just skip to the last chapter, last two chapters if you are feeling generous. You will get your answers and even more frustration.

Worst. Ending. Ever. This book really frustrates me because the plot and story line are incredible. I was so invested but the beginning was confusing with all of the different characters/perspectives. I came to really appreciate the multiple perspectives within the chapters. The story really picked up then just stopped and I’m extremely frustrated by that!

Honestly it was hard to get into this book. the it was hard to understand at the beginning, always switching from past to present to past again. i found the 2nd person POV hard to read as well. i think the book picked up toward the middle and i enjoyed after that. i think the ending was alright, nothing special.

This book kept my attention but only because the main character kept making WILDLY ridiculous decisions. I suffered from secondhand embarrassment reading about the choices she made throughout. I get it, she was traumatized by her past, but she essentially went through life like a giant child crying about nobody understanding her while she simultaneously told nobody what was going on in her life.

A forgettable thriller that doesn't really bring anything new or unique to the table. Found the protagonist to be extremely annoying (one of my biggest pet peeves is not speaking/misunderstandings as a plot driver).

I really struggled with this book because the characters felt undeveloped and it was hard to feel bad for any of them until the end, when some of the different pieces clicked into place. The way the book was organized was also confusing with shifting timelines that weren’t clearly defined.
