The Knight's Daughter is an entertaining, quick read. It has relatable characters, magic and an overall good story. While I had some issues with pacing and the writing itself, I don't want that to deter others from reading it. I think it's great for middle grade readers who are trying to figure out what genres they like. I'd also recommend it to reader who enjoy Arthurian or medieval fantasy specifically.

How the children will do anything to save their father. A story of determination, family relationship and staying strong in midst of the trials. Like the story because it ended in a happy note and the plot is easy enough to follow through. A good quick read.

First of all, thank you BookSirens for letting me read this book free in exchange for an honest and voluntarily review.

I'll be honest to you, when I first started the book I was immediately intrigued. The beginning was very strong and very captivating, just like the rest of the book. After I started reading it was hard to put down- even if there were times when I was annoyed certain things.

The plotline was very thought out and I enjoyed reading the interaction with characters a lot- sadly I missed a lot of the worldbuilding. I wanted to know where I was, how it looked, smelled, felt. There were times when it was well described and others were it wasn't, like in the beginning. I couldn't quite see the map of the land, though it was becoming more vivid througout the story.

I feel like the book could have had many more pages if the scenes weren't as rushed. I felt like I was just getting used to the setting- only for it to change right away.

The Main Character was fourteen, though it felt as if she was portrayed as younger and the often usage of 'aye' and 'lass' were quite irritating- but it made me feel at ease in some way. As if I was really witnessing the scene.

I liked the side characters a lot and like I said before, the plotline was really alluring. I finished the book within 24 hours and do not regret reading. The ending was certainly fun but like I said before, certain scenes felt rather rushed.

If the book had been longer I feel like the story would have gotten more justice and the details would have been more divined. Now it just feels as if some plotholes are left unopen- luckily a second book is coming and I will certainly wait for that book to come out.

I read this as one of the Book Bloggers Novel of the Year Awards 2021 and it was one of my favourites.
I was interested in Mary and her situation right from the start and cared about the characters and what was happening even though I didn't know much about them. It was so refreshing to have a normal main character that doesn't magically become super brave and strong just because she's in trouble. Of course she finds her courage as the book progresses and it is great to see her grow.

This book is an interesting coming-of-age tale following a young girl in a fantasy setting. It starts off strong and continues to be full of action throughout the work while leaving plenty of room for the protagonist's personal growth. The setting and the fae creatures were well-written and creative. Highly recommend for young adults and adults alike!

I have to say that I really regret not starting this book when I received it for free as ARC 25 days before. I was taking my time because I wasn't that eager to read it due to my doubt about liking it but how was I wrong and now I'm really in need of Book II.

The story from the start makes me curious about what is going to happen next and as a reader, I was thinking that I can imagine what is all going to be but NO! It's a story that keeps you interested and wandering what next and I like this kind of stories, it's never dull. You are faced with small adventures inside a much more big one. This book is about many themes like braveness, trust, friendship,... but the main one is family.

About the characters, you have our narrator and the MC of the story, Mary MCThomas, she is a heroine who wants to be a knight like her dad and brothers, she wants to prove herself to those around her that she is not just a girl who has one only option in her life and that's to become a lady . And Destiny throws her way an opportunity to prove what she can do.

We have her brothers as second charecters who are protective of their sister and that's one of the things that I loved about this book which is the bond that unites this family. Other magical creatures appear in the story and help our heroes.

We have the main villain Meverick Conan who swore to destroy the McThomas clan due to some past confrontation with his family and to do so he has to capture Mary first. To know more you have to read it.

This book reminded me of Leigh Bardugo's the Grisha's trilogy with the Darkling and of Diana Wynne Jones and Gail Carson Levine's books.

My criticism would be about the cover first, which does not give the book its real value and it's kind of dull with no magic. Second, this book could have been BOOK I and BOOK II. Some events have been passed quickly like the author wanted to put everything in this book and finish with the story. Plenty of things were unsaid or explained in haste, I don't want to share spoilers. I don't know what is going to be in the next book but for me the end was lacking, it was like the purpose was completed and Mary got what she wanted. I'm sure going to wait for the second book in order to see where the author is going to take us.

Anyway, I had some good time reading it and I did not get bored. Also, this book could be a good read for children/young adult readers.

The book didn't hook me at first, but Mary's courage and adventurous spirit kept me reading. I enjoyed the magic and the journey to save Mary's father. There was plenty of action, and a bit of mystery, as well. The constant bickering between Drake and everyone else in the party got old fairly quickly. I understand that he's the older brother, but he's kind of a jerk to everyone and doesn't let Mary make her own decisions in spite of the fact that she's proven her strength on multiple occasions.

Overall, this was a good, quick read. Thank you, Book Sirens, for the ARC.
