So this is a DNF not because it wasn't good but because it was too much and I couldn't handle it, like I made it through what I've been told is the most disturbing part of the book but I can't bring myself to keep on reading at the moment, I'll save my place and set it aside for the right day and time and hopefully finish because the writing is amazing and Nabokov did a fantastic job of messing with the reader which made the book that much more intense

The only two things I have heard about this novel is that either a) it's unfinishable because its so horrifying/disgusting, OR b) it's horrifying/disgusting but phenomenally written so worth the read.

I had to DNF it because it was just so damn boring. It starts off strong, and the hoops the MC jumps through to justify his thoughts and actions WAS very well done. But when the MC starts getting what he wants, the story just... sizzles. Like the author just didn't have enough content for a full-fledged novel.

what the hell.. i don’t say it very quickly but this is truly a masterpiece. it’s an easy book to read, but not to process. first time i can say i’ve truly felt played by an author. Nabokov,, the man that you are.. i don’t know the type of man you are, please don’t be a humbert humbert.

ps. i went back in time and space last night and killed H.H.
