I’m not sure how I feel. There are lots of things I am not keen on with the M&J storyline, but I do absolutely adore the ‘fake dating’ trope so this was a real treat. It ends on a sad note and that makes me sad, but also the next book is gonna be so full of pining I can’t cope.
The cases were 2/3 for me, loved the ones in the Close itself but the third one felt like it was magically solved and I’m not here for that.

This is probably my least favourite of the books in the series; I kept flicking back to the beginning to see if I'd missed something, an explanation as to why Maeve and Derwent were suddenly going undercover out of their local area, to solve a crime that wasn't explained, whilst still working remotely to solve an unrelated murder on their home patch.
Once the crime at the heart of the story became more obvious I did start to enjoy the novel more, but I was frustrated that Casey felt she had to go where she previously hadn't, seemingly in order to keep fans happy...
Still waiting with baited breath for the next installment, but hoping series gets back on track
