5 stars. il faut imaginer Sisyphe heureux -- Camus is the author that made me begin to study French again, after a failed attempt during my highschool years to become fluent (turns out, intensive French courses lead to intensive struggle, not mastery ...), on account of his writing and philosophy and my selfish desire to read his mastery in his mother tongue. self-labelled an absurdist and often grouped in with the existentialists, its difficult to say whether or not Camus was making groundbreaking revelations in his popular take on Sisyphus as a character, but he certainly made an impact in motivating struggling youths generations after his passing. Camus' writing touches you deeply in a way, and stays with you long afterwards even unconsciously; he is in the way you travel to work in the mornings and view the sunset in the evenings, and the meaning you attribute to each action in the course of a lifetime. truly the "it girl" of philosophical work as far as popularity and influence goes.
