Just can't finish this. It really sounded interesting but it just isn't one that keeps me interested.

How was this so fucking good? How.
Necromancer geishas with Japanese/Russian/Indian cultural blend. Fabulous.

I can’t stop thinking about this series, or talking about this series. It’s consuming my mind. Rin Chupeco is a new auto buy author for me.

The dual timelines of Tea as a young Asha, in comparison to her now being a bad ass Bone Witch is stellar. I love that we’re getting the chance to see her all of these important moments that lead up to her essentially being the villain of her own story, somewhat willingly. Even though a lot of the book is passive, the characters are so engaging and lively it seems to breath more than other stories.

I absolutely adore this series. 10/10 for anyone looking for masterful fantasy with multi cultural magic systems. Oh and the nuanced exploration of gender not just for characters, but within and actual magic hierarchy that is relevant to the actual story, damn. Fantastic!

This book is definetly not for everyone. The pacing is extremely slow and parts of it were very boring. I found the story to be quiet confusing at times. There is a lot of back stories and world building happening so I understand why the author went that route but I found it not engaging.

I picked up this book because I misread the description and thought it was about witches who cast spells using tea. Instead, it’s about a witch named Tea. Should’ve put it down once I realized that, tbh, saved me a bunch of time.

This book was so much more than I expected! It had such an intricate world with rich culture that really feels like it has been lived in and has a long history. There was also truly beautiful writing and complex characters!! The magic system is very interesting and unique which I really enjoyed!

The characters have such nuance and so much personality. Even side characters felt fully realised and knowable. I am excited to read the rest of the series because it definitely feels like I have only gotten one little puzzle piece. The whole story feels very well paced and planned out, which makes it a truly wonderful read!

I don't know how i feel about this book. It wasn't bad and it read easy. At the same time it dit lose my attention alot for the majority of the book. It was written wel, at the same time it was a bit boring in some places.thks all said it was an interesting plot. I do feel this first book is more of a setup. I do not know yet if i want to read the rest of the trilogy.
