It finally got interesting near the end. I didn't love it - thought it was trying too hard to be Gone Girl. But it was okay.

This book....I’m shaking my head that I ever looked forward to reading it. The writing itself was mediocre at best, the characters weren’t developed and the plot, oy vey. It was really, really bad. Between the major holes in the story to the “twists” thrown in every time the story seemed like it was waffling, the entire book was a huge waste of time. I’m very disappointed (however, it’s not going to stop me from watching the movie, maybe the actors and screen writers could do something more with the premise than the author did!)

3.5 stars - I really enjoyed the storytelling with different POVs and Stephanie’s blog as an additional narrator. Looking forward to seeing the movie.

I took a Saturday “off” of life to read this book in basically one sitting. It might sound shallow to say, but I really liked the slight mommy blogger snark. The storyline was very suspenseful, and it was hard to try and figure out what was really going on and what might happen next. Very nice ending that I won’t spoil.

3.5 stars. The twists and turn were fun, and the characters all shades of effed-up, but something didn't quite ring true or genuine. Perhaps it was the character development. Maybe it's just me. But the characters didn't quite feel real. Not a one was likeable. And I like even my baddies to be a little bit likeable.

I think the movie adaptation is pretty good for this. I mean who doesn't enjoy Anna Kendrik and Blake Lively?

The actual story is interesting but I feel like it doesn't give me enough. Like all that stuff about Stephanie and her brother, what is the point? I feel like it's just added to give her character something interesting but eh. Adds nothing realistically.

Would have preferred a lot more information about Emily and her 'demons' but alas that's not what we got.

Still, if anything reading this made me wanna watch the movie again lol
