Brillante.

Very quick read, with enough strong stories to be worth the time (though many of the shortest stories don't merit the single page on which they were written, which saddens my flash-fiction-loving heart).

Stories I liked: "One Out of Three", "Tender Rose", "I Don't Want to Deceive You" "Perpetual Motion", "Complete Works", "How I Got Rid of Five Hundred Books"

Stories I *really* liked: "Leopoldo (His Labors)", "The Advantages and Disadvantages of Jorge Luis Borges", "Christmas. New Year's. Whatever"

In this you can kind of see how it might have influenced a range of writers from the likes of George Saunders to Lydia Davis. My only negative is that not being sufficiently aware of the politics or histories alluded to I probably am not capturing all there is to see and appreciate here.

Beyond that if I look at one of the stories that takes a fable/magical realist approach that I often want to like but find myself not but does it well enough that not only do I not mind too much but I am thinking about the stories afterwards. So even when stuff is written that isnt a good fit for me I find myself enjoying it and being glad to have read it.
