I really enjoyed this novel. It feels more complete (maybe because it's not part of series) than the Lacey Flint books, even while it leaves room for more. And the title is about more than it seems. Very well done.

I really liked the premise. The snake stuff was so interesting and definitely helped build the drama. The first half of the book, however, I felt like the author was trying to make the main character TOO quirky and it was really distracting. The ending of the book was great, though.

This one had too many snakes for my liking. I could even picture them when I closed my eyes *shudders*. I like the writing so I think I'll try another book by this author some time.

I did enjoy this Sharon Bolton backlist book that I somehow missed. However it did feel a bit long and drawn out in places. But it was creepy as all with those snakes

A wildlife vet in a small English village is drawn into a mystery that includes the local elderly, a religious cult of the past, and lots and LOTS of snakes. Gripping!

Absolutely loved it. Couldn’t put it down and finished it in less than a day. Clara Benning is a vet - she doesn’t like mixing with people much. Now a man in her village has been killed by a snake bit and snakes are turning up in people’s houses so she is asked to help. Things keep happening in the village and Clara cannot help but be intrigued about a fire in the village in 1958 and the family that were linked to it. Ultimately, her research put her life in danger. Fantastic read.
