I’ve never read anything by this author, but some friends of mine adored this so I decided to give it a shot. I’m SO glad I did because her style of writing is GORGEOUS. Lyrical and magical, it reminds me of January, which is my standard for books that make me feel “immersed”. Very happy to end my 100 book challenge with this.

I recently read The Hazel Wood book also by this author and greatly wanted to read The Tales from the Hinterland. These stories stick with you and you cannot read one after another but allow time to digest each story as it haunts you. This is not for the light of heart, these are not happy stories, these are not stories that you have heard before and will not hear again outside of the hinterland.

I greatly recommend this book to people that enjoy fairy tales and enjoy things that are slightly more spooky.
