I couldn’t really get into the physical copy when I tried reading it, so I ended up listening to it on audio. The writing was alright and the characters were somewhat interesting. Nothing really exciting about it. Just an average read for me.

This story was incredible. It tackles many difficult topics and subjects in a way I found to be refreshing. The characters are relatable and seem like they could be average people we meet and not some over the top fiction. I loved this story and highly recommend the read.

It is an easy read and you can finish in a day or over a weekend, but I'm not sure who the target audience is. If it's the 1%, more specifically old money families, as a mirror to themselves and satire on their life then so be it. Otherwise it is not very relatable and the characters were unlikable. I found it quite tone deaf even when the characters had feelings/experiences that would make them more relatable. Not a fan, unfortunately, but if folks like to escape reality and imagine having "rich problems" this is the one for you.

I really loved the structure of this novel, the three narrators - an outsider to the Stockton family disguised as the sister-in-law, the eldest married sister, and the youngest naive sibling - each had unique and various perspectives that made keeping storylines straight fairly easy. None of these characters were especially lovable, but that’s definitely the point of this, and while there were some good conversations around wealth and class, a lot felt unfinished. There were awkward moments that made me giggle and truly messy family relationships that made it overall an enjoyable read.

This was an entertaining read. I admit that going in i had expected something more substantive, but i think the story was well executed for what it was trying to do. i veered between sympathy and disgust for the pov characters throughout the book and thought the message the author was trying to convey was well illustrated. It didn’t get as deep into some of the issues addressed in the book as i would have liked, and the way conflict resolved themselves was not as satisfying as i would have liked
