I honestly enjoyed the majority of this book. Admittedly, the ending (before the lead in to Adam's book) was pretty obvious, but that took nothing away from the story.

I looked forward to Joseph's book and it started off with a bang. Introducing Ember and her issues added interest. I liked Ember and Joseph together. Even after he mentioned his proclivities.

Where it fell apart for me was when he caused her pain. Yes, he did mention that was what he liked and need. Ok. You do you. The thing that bothered me was that Ember was did not seem to be an enthusiastic participant. It was more like she went along with it because that is what he wanted.

Even if he had gently introduced her to his certain likes and she was good with it, that would have been fine. Ember's whole attitude to me seemed more like she was willing to endure the pain because that is what Joseph wanted. Not cool.

I didn't understand how the intelligent, tough, ER doctor went along to get along. I expected more pushback. I expected her to tell Joseph something like she was willing to try if they moved slowly. Then she could judge if it was something she wanted to continued.

I also thought it was kind of cruel to not give Ember any hope. If things ended badly, would that really be any different than what a Joseph put her through anyway?

Like I said, other than that, the rest of the book was full of action, danger, and suspense. There was even some romance dropped in on occasion.

An enjoyable story, I was intrigued by Jason when reading Jacob's story and was glad to see his story was next and it really didn't disappoint. As an assassin and loner I did wonder how he would meet and fall for someone and I liked the idea that his eventual lover would be an old friend of his. Dr Ember Harris was a great character strong and fiesty and the way Jason rescued her was great, I do wish though that some of the action had been included rather than passed over but I did really enjoy the action during the last few chapters when Jason went to Mexico to take on the Cartel and the ending was great too especially when Adam started to remember his time with Keelee and I'm really looking forward to reading his book next.

Overall though a great read, and one I would definitely recommend to others.
