Would've given it four stars except for some unresolved issues with the story arc. Had all of Binchy's characteristic warmth, and I do really enjoy knowing that things usually turn out alright in her books. However. The Moira character. Positively hated her, but was hoping for some kind of change or resolution that just didn't seem to come. Also. Frankie and Noel's relationship. I am not satisfied. It feels unresolved somehow, like there should've been another chapter or two.

Don't shake your head at me! You judge me because I love Maeve Binchy. I know she is not considered a "WRITER" per se, but I love the way she puts a story together. And I love Ireland. And I love happy endings. I used to read her books in middle school....and have continued grabbing them whenever I can borrow them.

This story was about a baby that was born...."SHOCKINGLY" without a mother. Her father who's life is (surprisingly) falling apart....creates a community of support---and the first year of taking care of her all fits together in this book. The father falls in love. The grandparents create a space. The social worker finds her heart....etc.

Read this if you believe in fairy tales and like happy endings.

This is a temporary DNF because I was struggling to concentrate on audiobooks the week I picked it up. I got it from Borrowbox (the library app!), so I returned it rather than hogging it. I'll read it at some point because it was definitely a me issue, not a Maeve Binchy issue!

Maeve binchy's always a good storyteller - you get lost in her books.

A bit of holiday fluff, but even at that not very satisfying. I read a lot of Maeve Binchy in college and liked her a lot, but this book really didn't draw me in. The whole thing felt very superficial and soap-opera-esque and I don't think I ever got truly absorbed.

Take away: A nice story, but a bit long.
Narration: Sile Bermingham - great
Normal Speed - Accelerated Speed
New  -
Second - Third - Committed
Series - Non Series - Non-Fiction -
Author- I would like to read more by the author, but the length of her books is a bit daunting.
Listening to this book was a chore.
I'm glad I listened to this book.
I didn't want this book to end.
I could not wait to be done with this book.
Average, but better than anything I've written.
