So glad I'm finally getting around to reading the manga source material of my all-time favorite anime series. Volume 1 gives us the fun intro to the main 4 characters as well as plot-relevant side characters we will come to know and love in the future. I particularly enjoy the strong world-building, the characterization for Gon, and the little glimpses into his life on Whale Island with an early setup for the Kite storyline that weren't included in the first episode of the show. He is definitely the perfect protagonist for this story and I can't wait to relive the adventures and harrowing challenges to come for him and his best friends.

A great way to start the series. Fast-paced and exciting, it’s easy to fly through this series.
Plus, I was so happy to see that Kite was included in the manga from the very beginning, rather than just only appearing for the first time in the Chimera Ant arc.

This is the first volume, so you can't really tell the story just yet. But as someone who's watched the anime it's going to get a lot more interesting and a lot more sad.
