I applaud the authors for sharing their true, raw, and intimate stories. As a person who works with foster youth, I am in awe of Alexis and Justin for being able to have so many accomplishments and knowing what it takes to be successful.

There is no mention of God or faith on the cover or back side of the book. However, this book is VERY heavy with talk about God, Christianity, prayer, and faith. I wasn’t expecting this at all because there was no mention of it on the book. I understand faith is a tool each used to overcome their barriers, but no “heads up” could be a turn off to some.

Additionally, the story was hard to follow with lots of “bouncing” on the timeline.

Overall, I am happy for Alexis and Justin. They are making a difference in this world, which is amazing. I believe their success, ability to share their story, and make a difference on the child welfare system (NYTD Review) can inspire the youth of today.

Justin and Alexis can’t help but inspiring with all they’ve overcome. It was quite the read from all the awful the endured to the hands up, hard choices, and perseverance to get them on the track they are living now. Rough read at times with the graphic accounts of their childhoods. I like how the authors switched voices to tell the same time periods from each of their perspectives. And I always extra love an audiobook voiced by the authors.
