Content warnings: death, violence(both to a minor and more severe level)

This was an interesting piece of YA fluff. Nothing I actually had to think about and had I needed to let my mind wander it could have.

I LOVED the fact that the snake was named Bambi and the dragon Thumper. I laughed over those. Also over Bambi being a shit near the end of the book.

I was very not impressed with the whole 'surprise you're related to this douche who keeps trying to kill you and your father thinks you're an abomination and should be dead' plot line. Nor was I impressed with the (literal) release hell on earth just so that you can cause enough chaos to go spend a precious few moments with the person that you love plot line. I did like that both seemed to merge together fairly well.

Also surprise and shocker no one is telling the whole truth to the person that it will impact the most because 'we need to protect you'. Truth be told I'm really kind of tired of that crap and it makes me want to stab myself in the eye. Because it always winds up doing more harm than good. Oh and the 'you need to keep your virginity safe and intact so you can remain pure' bullshit. That also makes me want to commit other acts of violence against myself. And I'm always disappointed to see it in books written by female authors.

All in all it was a decent book. If you like young adult fluff books with hints that there could be sexual stuff going on it's pretty good. OH! And speaking of that the one thing I really have to praise is the consent thing. You're literally with a demon from hell and tell him to stop and he respects your stop and stops. I WANT to see stuff like that more often. Where two people are taking each other's consent into consideration and stopping when someone removes their consent. It NEEDS to be in YA books. It NEEDS to be in ANY book with any sort of romance in it (if the author wants us to see the relationship as a healthy one). So huge kudos for the author making the demon from hell a decent type of kind of person even though it goes against his actual nature.

Also the monolith puzzle thing? I figured it out the second I read it. And I have a hard time believing that one or both of them was too dense to figure it out on their own. Especially if she is as "smart" as she's suppose to be. By high school if you live in DC you should know the Washington Monument. And be smart enough to use a dictionary to figure out what a monolith is if you don't know. Or the internet for that matter.

Honestly, I was wary of WHK. Why? Because after the Covenant and the Lux series I haven't really been able to enjoy any other of JLA's books too much. Buuuuut I really liked BSL and I was eager for WHK, despite the fact that it has a love triangle of sorts. But the book came to me as a pleasant surprise.

And of course, I'd like to point out that the fact that JLA said that Daemon was based on Roth had me all kinds of excited, because I miss the green-eyed alien. Anyway, Roth really wasn't too much like Daemon (since perfection doesn't occur twice :P). Besides, Roth grew into his own character, much different from Daemon in his own ways, and proved the one thing I've always believed in. Free will.

Layla was actually a surprising character for me. I was expecting a kick-ass, Warden slash Demon. But she was actually pretty normal-ish. And it was a refreshing change and while her bouts of jealousy when it came to Zayne and Danika
Spoilerwhen she was waltzing around with Roth and kissing him and holding his hand and being romancy with him,
was a little annoying.
SpoilerHowever I think she comes to terms with her feelings towards the end. I think.

The plot line was real good and I'm amazed again and again about how much authors have to research before they put in facts into their book. Abbot and all the other Wardens don't really have my respect right now. I mean, I understand being careful with her, but I do NOT understand being cruel to her. Petr and Eliza are the worst in the group of Wardens.

Zayne is probably the only Wardens that treat Layla like she is a normal human being. However, according to me, he isn't the one for Layla. He has never really expressed anything romantic towards her and thinks the worst of her sometimes. He forgets their Saturday-outing and when he apologizes and they argue, he makes her feel terrible and he feels terrible and then it's sort of downhill from there. I was never much of a Zayne fan anyway, besides I think that things started to end between them when she felt like she couldn't tell him about Roth because he would just think the worst.

I'm actually oscillating between 3.5 and 4. Well, you pick one and go with it. ;)

I do recommend the book, just don't lose interest halfway (because my friend said that happened to her).

I’m telling you she puts crack in her books. Like they are so entertaining, but honestly not that good. This world was actually kind of interesting with the angels and demons. I like the romance as

Me he sorprendido gratamente con este libro, al principio no estaba muy segura de querer leerlo pero estoy contenta de haberlo hecho.
Esperare a que el tercer libro salga para poder continuar con esta trilogía.

I really enjoyed this. It was a nice light read, kind of like the lux series, it is the type of read you grab just to relax and have a fun. If you like the other books of Jennifer L. Armentrout I think you will definitely like this.

My favourite thing about this book was Roth. He was such a great character, definitely swoon-worthy. I laughed so hard at some of the things he said/did and other times he said the sweetest thing and I just melted. The heroine is also great and the other characters are also okay but if I have to highlight something of the book is that Roth is awesome.

This is my 3rd series I am listening to of Jennifer's. I really like her writing style, but found some similarities in this storyline to her Covenant series. However in saying that I still really enjoy her books and cant wait to finish this series.

I really enjoyed this. It's been a while since I read through the night.
I am confused as to how there are "Teams" though. Surely there is only one option.......Roth!
“I lost myself the moment I found you.”
I mean Come.ON! Swooon!
Zayne was an asshat :p

I really liked the world of demons and gargoyles. I loved Layla and Roth. Also thought Stacey and Sam were funny. I felt like we really didn't get to know Zayne I hope to learn more about him in later books. I plan to read the rest of series.
