By far the most terrifying book I've ever read.

The Handmaid's Tale was a thrilling tale of a dystopia that isn't as far-fetched as one would think. Written in a way that is both reflective and personal, Atwood has created a story that makes the reader think about how modern Western society functions in comparison to previous times. The changes from a relatively liberal country to one that is more conservative with the social rules and norms is analyzed thoroughly throughout the novel.

A definite read for those who like to speculate about how the world used to be and could still be.
