Fashion is nicely affixed to sociopolitical changes. Some outdated language to describe minorities and I believe the author showed bias.

A good quick survey of the decade, with a focus on fashion. The author has a more obvious political and cultural bias than is evident in other books of this sort that I've read, but it's still a good read with lots of great pictures.

Good concise introduction to 1930's fashion, covering the fashion itself and the political and social climate of the decade. Plenty of great pictures too.

A short and summarized description of fashion in the 1940's, during and after World War II. It goes into detail without being monotonous - but I didn't focus on the text all that much; I was most interested in the photographs and illustrations.
Focused mainly on female attire. Great book if you're interested in 40's style.
