Mini Review/Notes: Cute book, the characters were enjoyable and felt like real high school students for the most part. Predictable of course, but appreciated the drama with her friends Bridgette and then Meredith. If only high school romances had less "forevers" attached.

This book is remotely enjoyable. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this book so much, I think because ‘Anna and the French Kiss’ gave me ‘Looking for Alaska’ (by John Green) vibe and I didn’t like ‘Looking for Alaska’ at all.
.
In the beginning, Anna had to attend a different school (boarding school even) and then she discover this group of people. Just like in ‘Looking for Alaska’, except these people weren’t.... wasted. I’m glad that Anna remains herself but also grow into a better version of herself at the end of the book.
.
The moment I was introduce with Etienne, I knew that Anna had fallen for him. But the way that Anna feelings grew throughout the time she spent with him made it so much more enjoyable. Instead of making it insta love. There relationship is just so... confusing at times, though. Like one moment they could be sweet to each other, the next fighting against one another. But they manage to solve their problems in the end. So that was a relief, cause I don’t think I could read through another 100 pages of them wanting to rip the other one apart — ok, I made he exaggerating but close enough.
.
Anna herself wasn’t a bother to me, but toward the end through it just... It’s like every thing she did upset me, from being with Dave, from shouting at Etienne, from betraying Meredith. But I know that this is her feelings and she can’t control them, so I’ll give her some credit but really, though, the way she act toward the end (like all those fighting parts) was too much, I can’t handle all this.... hatred. Rashmi was right when she said that Anna left them and Anna was right when she said she left her friends. Like a little forgiveness wouldn’t hurt. But it does to her, it seem. But all in all, I do like Anna character just because I could partially relate, not with all those love scene, but the way she try to keep her room neat, she don’t like drinking (not like I could drink anyway), and she’s not a rule-breaker. Etienne on the other hand, was so stinking sweet it hurt. It hurt so much watching their relationship fall apart, but it felt so satisfying and nice to see them mend their relationship and turn into something more than friends. I just got to say I love how the relationship is with a short boy and tall (well not tall but taller than Etienne) girl. This reminds me of my best friend ;)
.
This story relates to me, partly, and I think that’s why I enjoyed it so much. But it wasn’t anything exceptional. It was just a solid summer read and it’s about Paris. I enjoyed the romance between Etienne and Anna. I enjoy the dynamics happening in this story. Anna relationship with her family. Rashmi, Josh, Meredith and Anna friendship.
.
Overall: this was a solid read. But it wasn’t something exceptional.

I just wanted to say, “YOU GO ISLA!” She defended Anna. When she was introduce, my mind then thought of the last book “Isla and the Happily Ever After”. It made me want to learn more about her and read that book, but I have to finish ‘Lola and the Boy Next Door’ first.

Frustrating, adorable, hormonal, romantic, beautiful. This book captivated me, bringing back the sweet, sore memories of unattainable, teenage romance and friendship. Its delicious awkwardness and portrayal of peer pressure, first romance, and the scariness of being in a new place greatly satisfied me as an appreciator of a good cross-over YA book. I also enjoyed the knowledge that the author has about Paris and it's landmarks and history. Loved, loved, loved!

A book that made me feel positively ancient and grumpy. I cannot stand these "nice" children and their annoying relationship drama. This was tooth-destroyingly twee, banal, and exhausting.

Also, Etienne deserved to get slapped this entire book. How are you in a whole-dang relationship and constantly getting jealous of anyone Anna is interested in? What a brat.

Kim Mai Guest did solid audio narration.

This was a really cute & sweet story of love & friendship.

I didn't think I'd like Anna at first as I thought she was a wee bit moany & naive when it comes to boy's with the typical no experience but is an absolute-beauty-but-she-doesn't-know-it type thing going on but she really grew on me within the first few chapters.

And Etienne St Clair is just as dreamy & tortured as all our other fav book boyfriends :)
Though I have to say I did want to strangle him at times cause I was so frustrated with his decisions
Spoilerif he had only broken up with Ellie sooner!!! But then we wouldn't have had the angst needed for the tale to work :)
to be fair the author does a good job of explaining why he does what he does & Anna isn't without her faults either & I needed to remind myself that these are 2 clueless teenagers which I once was myself :)(long looooooonnnnng ago)

Paris is also a huge character is this book, she hates it, she loves it, she wants to go home, it is home. I love Paris so any book based there is gonna score major points with me.

I guess the reason the book lost a star for me is that there is nothing really new going on here but because it was told beautifully it worked all the same.

This is a perfect light fluffy YA romance for in between more hardcore angst ridden books. Or if you just like a really cute tale of best friends to lovers.

I will definitely be reading [b:Lola and the Boy Next Door|9961796|Lola and the Boy Next Door|Stephanie Perkins|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1327889189s/9961796.jpg|7149084]
