Pretty good and quick read. I liked the main character, she seemed to be a pretty strong female character without the regular fantasy romance bullshit that comes with the territory. Oh sure, there was some elements of romance but she didn't let it rule her thinking. Highly enjoyable, looking forward to the rest of the series.

I almost didn't read this, after getting it out the library, because the cover is so godawful. But I'm glad I gave it a chance, because I quite enjoyed it. I liked that the main character wasn't a fighter - or at least not a professional fighter. I'm a bit tired of ubercompetence. I did feel like the book was too short - nothing was really given time to settle. I think the dramatic bits would have had more impact if we'd had more of normal life first. Still, entertaining, and I'm looking forward to reading more.

I really enjoyed the strong female protagonist in this book! Mercy is interesting, strong, independent and don't need no man even though she has plenty of options! Ha. The plot is enticing and fast -paced. I also like the aspect that I think there is still a lot to learn about Mercy's powers in the subsequent sequels.

The only reasons this is not a 5 star novel is I do feel some introspection with Mercy's 1st person POV was missing. It was completely unclear the whole book her feelings towards the other werewolves to the point that I even thought MAC was the primary love interest for the first few chapters (whoops - ha). Even at the end of the book I was surprised with her decisions since there wasn't really anything to indicate she had feelings or was interested!! I also think that while the story and characters are great, the writing and dialogue are still pretty simple.

Overall I will keep reading the next books!

Just as good as when I first read it in 2007. I was afraid it wouldn’t hold up.

WOOHOO! This book was just downright fun. The characters are so easy to relate to. The plot is entertaining, and the UST keeps you turning the pages, holding your breath in anticipation.

A friend had recced this series to me ages ago, and I got the first three from paperbackswap.com, but they'd just been sitting on my shelf. I picked this one up this morning, and and now so happy that I have the next two to curl up with next! If this book is indicative of Patricia Brigg's writing skills, I will be hunting down everything she's ever written.

On of my all time faves already.

This was a solid book but very heavy on the masculinity. Like, there are maybe seven female characters and they all fail the Bechdel test. And there are a million male characters that are constantly like ALPHA MALE HERE MOVE OVER. So it gets pretty tiresome, but I do like Mercy and the overall story. This book doesn’t make me want to rush out and read the rest of the series immediately, but I’ll probably pick it up again at some point. I didn’t “really like” this book or love it, so it gets a solid 3 star rating because I liked it.

Really enjoyed this book. So much so i've ordered the rest of the series and I cant wait to see how Mercy's story continues and how her relationship with Adam develops. Must say though I really disliked Samuel in this book so i'm hoping he's got a smaller role in the next book.
