This is by far the best book of the series and I say this for a few reasons. The best thing this book has going at first is the fact that each of the seven has a PoV in this book. So, when I tell you I'm extremely upset to see not all of them will have a PoV in The Blood of Olympus, I am EXTREMELY UPSET. It just worked so well in The House of Hades, we got to see how each of them took in the situations they were placed in and how they felt about each other. It was just really nice to see all of them represented.
The next thing that made reading this book enjoyable was Percy and Annabeth's journey in Tartarus. There was something so familiar about it and I realized it felt like I was reading a book from Percy Jackson and the Olympians. There is something about their teamwork, aside from their relationship, that is just perfect. Plus, we had Bob. Bob was fantastic and he most certainly made me cry.
Frank just made me really proud. If Frank were a living, breathing person, he would be getting the biggest hug from me. This poor boy deserves it. He does so much and has such a big heart, it hurts. Hazel is DEFINITELY my favorite of the seven. Like this girl. THIS GIRL. She has done the absolute most. She is just absolutely incredible and sweet and powerful and intelligent and amazing. And again, I just want to give her a big hug.
I WANT TO GIVE ALL OF THEM A BIG HUG
Can I just say, I am so happy we have Jason's PoV again! I missed reading his PoV so much! He's just great! I don't know what to say about him other than that. Piper. Just wow. She's progressively become better and better, I just feel like Rick isn't giving her enough time. If she got more time, I definitely think she'd be higher up on my favs list. She's also funnier. AND LEO! This boy! He went through so much! And the thing he did for Frank! God! I love him! He made me cry.
I think I liked The Mark of Athena for the mythology that was included, but I LOVED the character development in this book. The traveling, the places they go, the situations they are put through, it's all just perfect! Definitely my favorite of the series. Which is funny, because I didn't really feel this way reading Percy Jackson and the Olympians. All I know is that the next book is going to wrap up the prophecy and set up The Trials of Apollo and I can't wait! I just have to wait a while to read them . . . :(
Oh, and I laughed more in this book more than The Mark of Athena. Definitely as much if not more than The Son of Neptune.
