Twelve books in and the Mercy Thompson series continues to be something I savor when I need literary comfort food. The gang is all here, including some interesting appearances by vampires Stefan and Wulfe. And the ever creepy Underhill as well. In this installment Mercy faces off against a foe that can possess, and later assume the form, of its victims. There's also some friction between her and her mate, a relationship that has been rock solid for many books. I've set aside every other long series I was reading, but I'll be here for the next installment of Mercy.
Graphic: Body horror, Car accident, and Suicide attempt
Moderate: Confinement, Gun violence, Sexual content, Violence, Blood, Medical content, Cannibalism, and Stalking
