"Andrea Sachs, a small-town girl fresh out of college, lands the job “a million girls would die for.” Hired as the assistant to Miranda Priestly, the high-profile, fabulously successful editor of "Runway "magazine, Andrea finds herself in an office that shouts "Prada! Armani! Versace!" at every turn, a world populated by impossibly thin, heart-wrenchingly stylish women and beautiful men clad in fine-ribbed turtlenecks and tight leather pants that show off their lifelong dedication to the gym. With breathtaking ease, Miranda can turn each and every one of these hip sophisticates into a scared, whimpering child." (From Amazon)

I enjoyed this novel - it was funny and a quick read. Although the romance was horrible. I enjoyed the movie with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.

After I watched the movie I really wanted to read this book and now I finally did and I’m glad I did. It was fun and easy read and I enjoyed it but it’s not the type of books I usually read so it was a bit boring sometimes. I think I never read chick-lit before so this was all new to me but I liked it, it’s kind of relaxing reading it, I didn’t have to think about the book so much. All in all, it’s pretty good book.

Andy was a bit annoying character, she complained all the time and I agreed with Alex and Lily and pretty much everyone – she had a choice! She could quit every time and if she decided to work that year then she should’ve shut up and just work, without complining. I didn’t like her but we did see her character development, how she became different (to worse) through the book. Lily was also annoying, she’s the type of girl I would never want as a friend and I would avoid. What is the point of her life? Guys and alcohol. Amazing. Alex was so cute and nice and adorable. I like him a lot and I felt so sorry for him when Andy changed. I’m, however, glad he broke up with her because he didn’t deserve to be treated like that. I don’t have permanent opinion about Christian. Once I think he’s amazing and perfect and the other time I think he’s disgusting. But I decided I like him. He’s hot! I also liked Emily a lot, I admire her and I could connect with her, I was so sad when she couldn’t go to Paris and she wanted that for years. She’s such a loveable character. Miranda is a queen. She’s crazy, though, but she’s also brilliant. She is powerful, cold and bitchy and I liked her. She really knows how tu use her power. Amazing character, but not vary sane.

The writing style was okay but the thing that bothered me but also amazed me was when Lauren Weisberger started talking about all the presents Miranda got, or all the clothes Andy got, or something like that. However, I skipped these parts because it wasn’t very interesting to read all that but I think they were neccesary because it just shows how powerful Runaway and Miranda are. I think characters were pretty shallow, though but I didn’t mind that much about that. Also, there is not same major plot, we just follow Andy while she’s Miranda’s slave but as I already said, the book is easy to read so I didn’t mind that too.

I’m not really into chick-lit but all the women out there who are would probably enjoy this book. It’s really good and I can’t think of any big complaint on it but I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would and I felt kind of relief when I finally finished it. But I do recommend it, to the people who like this kind of books.

i liked the movie ending much better. overall a fun read aside from the typical early 2000s gay stereotypes.

Watch the film of this instead - don't bother with the book. Yes, it's a more schmaltzy treatment of the story, but at least the characters are likeable.
Meryl Streep brings the character of Miranda Priestly to life in a way that the smug, passive-aggressive narrator can only dream of.
