The loss of Hal was a devastating blow to Kamen and his other best friends, Gould, Miles, and Dave and even two years after Hal's senseless albeit accidental death, the four seem to still struggle to find their footing in a world without their fifth member. But they've moved forward in some ways, with Dave and Miles in their own relationships with D and Drix, respectively. Now, even Kamen is happily living with Ryan and it's the first time he's ever been committed to a partner. Kamen relishes spending time with Ryan, a fact that his friends, especially Dave, appears to not be too thrilled about. Poor Kamen finds himself stuck between his boyfriend and his best friends, all of whom he loves deeply. They all deserve to be happy, so why is it that when his turn finally comes, it's almost as if he's being made to feel guilty over it. He's always been supportive of his best friends, and would drop anything to be there for him. Shouldn't they be willing to do the same thing for him? Is he going to have to choose between Ryan and his friends?

There were several times that this book brought me to tears--tears from too much laughing. I promise you, there was a mix of silent but non-stop laughter and full-on snorting and thigh-slapping. The four friends have always been able to make me laugh before, but because this is Kamen we're talking about here, the antics he gets himself into are sometimes so absurd that I picture them in my head and can't help but laugh like there's no tomorrow. But this book wasn't just about levity. The lingering issue of Hal's death is slowly but surely being resolved, but I understand how difficult it is to move on from any sort of loss. This being Kamen's first relationship, I get why he felt pulled in different directions but I also get how his friends felt, as Dave aptly put it during their confrontation. Kamen learned things about his boyfriend, his best friends, even evil Cinnamon, but most of all, he learned things about himself. Someone give Thunder Canyon the winning garland. He deserves it. Five plus-stars for Kamen and Manties in a Twist. ♥

Delightful and funny in different ways—I alternately chuckled or snorted (neigh!) including the light-hearted pony play, especially the climactic showdown. Rare (to me anyway) deepening romance of established couple with small, low drama to resolve. Helps that the serious story thread from earlier books (haven’t read) finds acceptable resolution for friend group.

Well, I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first two books in the series. But I don't think it was the book. It was me. This book was funny. That was just who Kamen and Ryan are. The are funny guys, so they had me laughing a lot, but I had a hard time taking them seriously. Which I think was part of their story. Well, mainly Kamen. He's met a great guy that he absolutely adores and he's trying to be an adult and do the adult-y responsible things. But his friends just don't see that he's growing up. And now that he's living with his boyfriend and spending more time with him, his friendships are suffering.

I think I enjoyed their venture into pony play more than the drama with Dave, because you could see that Kamen was growing serious about it, after it started as just a joke. But it still got a bit annoying to me. I live with someone who isn't serious enough and makes everything a joke. Who won't talk about the heavy stuff. Who compliments with insults, etc. And it gets old quick. So although I liked Kamen, he got on my nerves. And his relationship with Ryan didn't seem to gel for me.

Mkay this was my least favorite of the series. Ryan and Kamen were already together and so there wasn't much drive to the story in that respect. The conflict was outside the relationship - Kamen trying to figure out how to balance his friends with his new relationship and find himself and also trying to beat Cinnamon at pony play. After two books where characters when on intense kink journeys and also fell in love his one fell short because it wasn't as swoony of an emotional journey. I did appreciate the conversation about friends and relationships and trying to balance that. It just didn't work as well as the other books for me. I wanted a journey into more intimacy and I felt like we didn't get to see that really developed.
