I really loved LOVELIGHT FARMS, but for whatever reason took several centuries to continue the series, and I am SO GLAD I finally did. Beckett is the perfect manāI loved everything about him, and frankly Iād like to move into his perfect house (kittens and all). Who do I talk to about making that happen????
Evieās journey was also really meaningful to me, and the focus on finding your happy and realizing that ādoing less doesnāt make you lessā resonated with me in a big way. And I absolutely loved seeing Evie and Beckettās relationship unfold!
Truly, this book was just full of so much joy, and I had such a delightful time reading it. Iām so excited for Layla and Calebās story next!

I enjoy this authorās writing style and these characters, but I had such a hard time reading this book at first. These characters were very lusty (they started as a one night stand turned multiple nights, and the characters kept looking back on that hook up) and it often felt like there wasnāt a lot in their relationship besides the lust. I really liked both characters but it took a long time for the characters to get past just revisiting the past dalliances in their memories. I appreciated Beckettās struggle with social anxiety/overstimulation and Evelynās efforts to find herself, but their utter lack of communication as their relationship evolved (especially at the end of the book) was so infuriating. This book maintains the small town feel of the first which I enjoyed. While I love these characters, I didnāt love them together as they were figuring stuff out, especially with how dense they were when loved ones gave them great advice and then they just shut down š they both really suck at relationships. So it was nice to have the epilogue and bonus chapter to put their stable relationship into more context after all the communication/expectation issues resolved themselves.

I love all these books. This will deliver for Beckett fans.
The details in this one are wonderful- Beckett's personal history takes front and center and there is a lot of world building in the small town. It's very swoony. Also an excellent depiction of a sensory processing disorder.
Evie's character is well formed- we spend less time in her history but as someone experiencing burnout, all the emotional hits you need are there. She's very sexy, which I didn't expect.
This one has less of a b-plot than the first and third books, so the relationship and the characters' broad goals are kind of everything, which Borison pulls off. Evie's search for her next thing provides some inciting structure, but there's no rush.
I think characterizing Beckett as a grump fails- which seems to be a lowkey meta-struggle I didn't fully understand. If you walk in recognizing he's a soft boy with an issue processing sound, the story flows easier.
Sex/Physical Scenes - love the chemistry and dynamic. There is a lot of allusion to the two's first night together, but could have used more physical affection or details beyond memory flashes. (Though someoneyells, "I'm supposed to pretend I don't know how you taste?" and my brain fully shorted out, so you're in good hands.)
Narrators - Two narrators. Pippa Jane continues as the voice of Lovelight, and her dialogue reads remain a sexy highlight. Lady knows how to use space.
Dane Anderson is bassy as hell and does a good job lending weight and space to Beckett. Vibes like he may have more practice with aggro dudes than reticent tree farmers, but he has moments that play with volume and tenor that really stand out.
Audio Direction: Evie's BFF from Portland- home of the default US newscaster accent- is British, and I'm willing to accept that, but it's never addressed.

In the Weeds is sunshine and daisies, the moon and the stars, love and pure unadulterated magic. This is the slowest I have read a book in years and thatās strictly because I was trying so hard to make it never end.
I thought that I couldnāt love a character as much as I love Stella but Beckett? I hold parts of him in my heart that will live there forever. He is the colour yellow. He is hope and beauty, inside and out, and love. He cares for all things, living or otherwise. He is thoughtful and open in his own way and generous to a fault.
Evie is grace and humility. She has worked so hard to be where she is, but has the courage to recognise that it isnāt making her happy. That is such a tremendously difficult thing for anyone to admit to but particularly someone of her stature. The strength that she garnered to go and find her happiness, to open up and allow someone to love her, to allow herself to love, is truly beautiful.
I feel honoured to have read In the Weeds. The word I used most when annotating this book was āhomeā and thatās what is. Compared to Lovelight Farms, which so vividly epitomised community, In the Weeds was private and cosy and homely. It was Evie and Beckett learning about each other but also about themselves and, ultimately, falling in love. I adore this book with my whole heart.
Onto Mixed Signals. I already know that I wish Layla was my best friend so this is going to be wonderfulā¦
