I might've give it another extra star but About That Night disappoints me at one level.

Witty dialogues, check. Gorgeous main characters, check. Steamy sex, dirty words and multiple orgasms, check and check and check. Funny moments, check. Sooo... why does this novel disappoints me so? Alas, it has become one of those chick lits/contemporary romances that is cliched.

Yes, it does tell the story of the main characters, Kyle - the Twitter Terrorist and Rylann - Meth Lab Rylann/Prosecutrix Pierce. But that's all. He met her, got caught in her smile, kissed her one night and stood her up on their very first date nine years ago. Of course, as fate would have it, they meet again, under different circumstance. He's the con, she's the prosecutor. How convenient.

And how very predictable.

If you're familiar with James' works, you'll get it. It predictable from the very first chapter.

A fun, light read, if that is what you're looking for.

OK, so after having read 'Something About You' my expectations for this were very high .. however half way through the book and NOTHING was happening, i was getting more interested in the case than the relationship.. however after things FINALLY picked up, it was good, but not as good as 'Something About You' which i completely loved.. maybe there needed to be more chase.. i don't know , but still a good read :D

Nice enjoyable read, though it was initially hard to get over the fact that the H in this was the idiot brother from the book before.

After reading A Lot Like Love, I was already excited to start About That Night because I knew that Kyle Rhodes will be the male lead character in this third installment of Julie James’ FBI/US Attorney series. I liked Kyle in ALLL. I thought he was such an interesting character and I find his whole “shutting-down-Twitter-and-getting-jailed-for-it” funny and an amazing plot line. Can you imagine a hero being thrown into jail because he hacked Twitter? *Nerd Hero Alert* Although, the real reason why he hacked Twitter was sad and a bit pitiful but still I find it hot.

The female lead character this time is Rylann. She just moved to Chicago to be an assistant US Attorney to the recently promoted Cameron Lynde (of Something About You). Like other Julie James’ female leads, she’s a smart and career-oriented woman. Although, she’s a bit more driven as she’s got her future planned out down to the exact year when she will achieved her goal. She and Kyle met in a bar back in college. Though nothing sordid happened that night aside from Kyle walking her home and them sharing a kiss, that night 9 years ago seemed to be magical for both of them. They were attracted to each other and when they met again after all those years, apparently, the attraction was still there.

This book doesn’t have suspense like James’ previous book in this series. Well, there was someone murdered in the jail at the time Kyle was still in there but although that affects Kyle and Rylann, it doesn’t put their lives at risk.

The main conflict in this book is how to reconcile the fact that Rylann- an assistant US Attorney- is dating the so-called Twitter Terrorist who was put into jail by the office she’s serving today. How their personal relationship with each other affects their professional relationship with other people.

Conclusion:

Once again, I enjoyed this book. Kyle was such an entertaining character. I wish Rylann was more fleshed out though, but overall, it is still a solid third installment to the series. I can’t wait to read the fourth book!

For some reason I just wasn't into the relationship between Kyle and Rylann. They were both decent people. Both were likeable. I just wasn't interested in their story all that much.

Nice romance. I miss the suspense, though. Unlike the previous FBI books, this story doesn't revolve around a crime / mystery / investigation. Still, it is a nice read, well written.

I really enjoyed this book! There was a lot of humorous banter, great chemistry between the characters and a bit of a forbidden romance. There wasn't any suspense in this one like the others I've read in this series but I still really loved it.

About That Night :

Definitely a break from my (now usual) YA, Supernatural/ Paranormal Romance. And yes, I really liked it! The plot is quite hilarious and it exceeds my expectations! 4.0 stars for a hot and sexy book like this.
