A supremely excellent narrative. Daphne de Maurier allows you to feel the complete dread that the protagonist does about every possible thing. Wonderful characters (As terrible as they may be), palpable fear, and real anger at a certain character. 10/10.

Beautifully written but not that much actually happens. The book focuses mainly on relationship dynamics and society of the time period which is interesting to interpret and dissect. Beatrice Lacy was the only enjoyable character for me, but Frank was a sweetheart.

I was a bit disappointed at the lack of ghostly presence and atmosphere that I was expecting. I thought it would be creepier. The twist was also quite predictable.

A classic nonetheless.

I feel like this is a really good book if you want to introduce yourself to classics. It's slow at times but moves into fast intense reading at other points. I found myself growing in and out of love with characters and was left questioning intentions for time after reading. HOWEVER even though I loved this book I found the main character/narrator intolerable at times.
