3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really liked this one more than the first book - it was more casual, funny, the addition of the flashbacks was a nice touch, it was sad, and the ending was great. BUT the stupidity of the MCs lasted 97%…yes, NINTY SEVEN percent of the book

I was very excited for this book because of how their love story was foreshadowed in the first book. However, the entire time listening to the audiobook I just kept thinking how much longer? I almost sped up my listening speed even more than my usual 1.5X.
Every interaction followed the same patterns, and they never grew or changed their opinions when they would learn something new. I came very close to either DNFing the story altogether or skipping to the final chapter, which come to find out may have been the best-case scenario considering nothing really changed between them the entire book until the final 15 minutes.
I had such high hopes for this book. I loved the first book and came into this book excited for the characters and left feeling exasperated and annoyed with how long it took for so little payoff. That being said I would read other books by this author because there were many aspects of the writing that were well done and clever, I just think the plot was redundant.
