This book made me feel a lot. Anger was one emotion, inspiration was another. But most of all, it made me value so much: female writers, female academics, females in careers that a century ago they were not accepted in, my own degree, my own ability to write and vote and study thanks to women who came before me, the men who finally accepted and supported us, those strong women who fought and spoke up and broke the mould. This is a book that everyone should read. It puts things into perspective and makes us appreciate what we have achieved and what we still have yet to achieve. Thank you, Virginia. Thank you, strong women.

One of my favorite bits: “Opinions that one now pastes in a book labeled cock-a-doodledum and keeps for reading to select audiences on summer nights once drew tears, I can assure you. Among your grandmothers and great-grandmothers there were many that wept their eyes out.”
So grateful for women like Woolf who fought for the “freedom of mind” that I now enjoy. I hope to improve the world as they did for future women.
