I loved this book and the world within. I hope that this series will be continued!

This was a little slow to start, but once it got going it was a roller coaster with wonderful twists and turns!

The master of unpredictable plot twists and perfect world building strikes again. If I had to make a comparison, Impyrium is a combination of Downton Abbey, Frozen, and the Targaryen bits of Game of Thrones, with steampunk flair; but, it is uniquely its own. I’ve put off reading this for a bit, because I thought nothing could touch the near-perfection of its predecessor, The Tapestry Series. Like Tapestry, this is an example of fantasy at its best.

It takes about 100 pages to get into the action, but after that, there's 483 more pages of "I don't want to put this down" because it's magical. Seriously, it's packed with all the fantastical things – imps, dragons, homunculi, shape-shifting, a velvet painting of a unicorn, betrayal (that's a mandatory thing in fantasy books, right?), etc.

This isn't really my favorite type of book. I don't typically enjoy worlds that are distant futures of our own mixed with traditional fantasy elements. This one made little sense to me despite the intricate very very detailed world building. (This book is loooooong. And detailed. Did I mention the details?) I find that in these books I grown annoyed at the quaint references to things in our own time. This held true in this book. All the details of the world and the author's need to continuously explain his plot to me left little page space for character development. I wasn't invested in them at all. I recognize that a lot of this is personal taste issues. The book is not bad, it's just really not for me. If you have a young person in your life who loves to devour long epic type fantasies, this is for them.

Spectacular!!! There is so much I want to say but don't want to spoil anything. I love Hazel and Hob. Well woven with hints of the Tapestry....

This book has a great setting and premise. The characters are interesting and draw you into the story. Definitely a great fantasy to read

I ended up really enjoying this. And knowing that it is a sequel series, and that the first one took place during the cataclysm, makes SO much sense. It erases any complaint I had about it being a formerly-our-world fantasy.

I also thought it was quite mature for MG, and more toward the line of YA.

Well... this one took me a bit. Thirteen days is a long time for me to read the same book! Big book and I kept trying to read too fast. I actually had to pay attention and slow down. This story had great writing, great storyline, great fantasy, true friendship and lots of intrigue! I really liked both Hazel and Hob's characters. The world building was complex and this one will be highly recommended for those advanced readers that crave a big story. And this one is perfectly clean! I'd say advanced readers all the way to third or fourth grade could handle it. It was as good read for me as a grown up too. I'm going to recommend to by husband and see what he thinks -- I'll update when he's finished!
