This second arc improves a lot from the first one. It tries to show us the motives for Iceman to be the way he is. You have flashbacks in the last issue when Bobby was younger trying to figure himself out.
I am still not too keen in presenting Iceman like a very mature/teachy/higher ground adult. It sounds like trying to send both a morale, message and getting quite preachy at the same time.

Grace continues his track of giving Iceman, one of the most underused and unappreciated characters in the X-Men cannon, direction and, therefore, appeal with clever character interactions and thrilling action.

I love the interaction between Iceman and his former self. It’s great to get to know young Bobby better. I like the stories about Black Widow and the flashbacks to older comics, that is great. I like his camaraderie with his old team but over all they have not enough time to make an impression though, and Judah – not a fan. Although it is nice to get to see him dating. The Zachary and Daken story takes off nice as well. But overall, it all felt a bit crowded and not as organic as the first volume.

1) Iceman Vol. 1: Thawing Out ★★★
If you're looking for an X-Men comic with a great (or even consistent) plot then this isn't for you, but if all you want is some slice-of-life Bobby Drake you've come to the right place. Bobby is my favourite X-character and it was so nice to read about him just navigating everyday life.

Way stronger than the first volume, due to much better artists coming on board and easing off of the 'generic straight dude action comics' style. It's still not as queer as the Kevin Wada covers promise, but at least there's SOME style. What I wouldn't give for someone like Kris Anka on this series. Instead, Sina Grace's story is somewhat hampered by the art style -- but gosh, this book was funny and cute and I'm sad it got canceled before it really found its way.
