That was unexpectedly good. Going in I had some idea of the plot, at least that it involved some Satanic plot around Rosemary's child but I was surprised how mundane and banal most of the book was. Mainly focusing on Rosemary and Guy settling into their new apartment and meeting the neighbors, pretty straight forward.
But there's this constant undercurrent of something happening. Weird coincidences, odd dreams, strange behavior from other people and all stuff that I pick up on but that I can really see Rosemary as dismissing or forgetting about. I know I'm reading a horror novel, Rosemary apparently was unaware that she was in one.
The building tension was excellent too. Early on Hutch relays the sordid history of the Bramford to lay the seeds but when the Woodhouses move in they start settling into living but Hutch's story early on primes you to see the creepy coincidences piling up till it all comes to a head.
And the Satanists were bad, their plot was truly awful but the real horror that people would more likely run into their day to day lives is What a monster.

Spoiler
not only are her neighbors plotting against her and manipulating her but her husband sold her and her child out. Even ignoring the supernatural aspect, that's awful.ksreads93's review against another edition

I think I would have liked this more if I hadn’t already consumed so much modern media that this was modeled after. It was a decent and quick scary listen though!
