This is a cute book and I appreciate that the main character asks questions and actually has agency. I also think that a lot of this holds up pretty well for a book released in the early 90's.

I love the snarky attitudes, the funny hahas, and just about everything about this book.

What princess would runaway to be a dragon's princess? Our MC of course! She is so bored with princess things that she wants to learn Latin, magic, and fencing, but those are not proper. Her parents try to hook her up with a prince, but she has none of that and ends up as Kazul's princess to get away from a guy she can't stand.

Along the way she becomes involved in dragon politics, makes friends with other princesses, and finds her own niche in the world.

It's a great and fun book with quirky characters and strange bits and pieces.

My fourth or fifth grade teacher read these books to our class. I've loved them ever since. I bought them again in a fit of nostalgia about 5 years ago and periodically re-read them. It is my first memory of a book with a clear, strong female main character.
