The third book of the Dalematk Quartet, is odd because it:s ostensibly a journal of a family as recorded by a girl who is weaving the words into fabric. Cute idea but very fanciful! Like the second book, this is a story of boat travel and running away that involves ties to lineage and old gods.

We have an entire family that exists as an ethnic minority among their people, and a mob of villagers turn them out of their homes when the country goes to war with people who look like them.

All this serves as an explanation of the gods of the rivers in the area, and I assume it will eventually all tie into a final book where all becomes clear. Unfortunately, at the moment, the pace is slow, and I'm thankful that I actually like the characters or I am sure I would have run out of patience for it.

I need to know how it ends now.
