I wouldn't have expected the story of a woman just getting back to herself after having been widowed to be as light hearted and cheerfully-told as this book is. It is delightful, charming, quaint, heartwarming, real, and fun.

I love the idea of a community class creating a new group of friends who get so close and supportive of one another in such a short time.

I love the idea of men from Amsterdam just being there to talk with their accents and patience.

I love the idea of a picturesque garden coming together and being beautiful in just one afternoon of work.

I enjoyed this book a lot. Wish I had read it first (before The Bookish Life and Anxious people) but that’s ok.

Again, I feel a little guilty giving it a 2, but I found this book to be just ok. A nice story, sweet characters, but I was annoyed by it semi frequently. This was the first book of our revived book club though, in which we sat outside eating cake and chatting, and so therefore was worth it.

Abbi Waxman is one book away from being one of the authors I love so much that I have read all their published work and impatiently await for them to write something new. Her characters are lovable; their stories are quirky and charming.
I devour her books! Serisously, I can't put them down. I already cannot wait to read my next book by her!

“Sometimes I worry that I’m self-obsessed, and then I worry that I’m thinking about myself too much.”
