My first Michael Morpurgo book was Kensukes Kingdom when I was 9. I think it was the first time I cried reading. This time, 19 years later, I almost cried again.
Great story. Warming.

I chose to read War Horse because it is coming out this Christmas on film. The trailor looks great. The book is only 120 pages and is told from the Toby, the main horse's, POV. The setting is Europeon WW II. It could be read easily by upper elemenatary students.

It's a nice story.

I found my copy of this book when tidying out some of my childhood things. I decided to reread it as I couldn’t remember reading the book but loved the movie.

I loved this just as much as I had the movie and love that it is told from the perspective of the horse which makes the story different from many others I have read.

Would definitely recommend this to anyone with children or just to adults who want a quick read and to learn something about World War One.

Not a bad story, but the kids didn't like it. The horse keeps moving around from owner to owner, which frustrated my kids. (I know,it's just like Black Beauty with war stuff, but they still didn't like it.) I'll still watch the movie, though.

This is another stunning book from Michael Morpurgo. It is told from the point of view of the horse during the war. Although aimed at teenagers it can be enjoyed by adults. A touching story, highly recommended.
