**** SPOLIERS****

This book was half as good as the 1st one. I really thought that it was too unrealistic for it to be any good and it was kind of about friendship which I think makes the book look REALLY sappy. Also the main character was weak and didn't stand up for herself and whats up with the genie-mouse?

Cute! It's got elements of other books I liked as a kid (one - name I don't remember - about a girl with a pin that could talk to animals, the other was [b:Octagon Magic|175892|Octagon Magic (The Magic Series, #2)|Andre Norton|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1312060189l/175892._SX50_.jpg|2255339]) and it didn't really matter that this was a sequel to a book I'd not read. Unfortunately, it's a little young for my students but for Grades 3/4 it'll be a winner.

This book is a really good sequel. It is the best so far in the series.

Emmy and her best friend, a boy named Joe, can talk to rodents ever since they were bitten by a rat. (in a previous book?) Emmy is whiny and obnoxious. Joe is amazingly tolerant of her, especially for a boy.
Storyline is unusual in some respects, but if you want great talking animals read Charlotte's Web instead.
