I am vaguely familiar with this actress but not a lot is known about her life outside of acting. Which to be fair, is honestly how it should be when we are watching movies & tv shows. Minka’s upbringing was debating to listen and reflect on. The fact that she managed to live beyond her teen years after suffering a lot of abuse and neglect in the hands of people that were supposed to protect her - heart wrenching. While she herself isn’t as highly prolific as some of her co-stars, I’m relieved for Minka that her story was told and she can continue to heal.

I enjoyed watching minka on Friday Night lights, so it was fascinating to learn more about her. I had no idea that her childhood was so tumultuous. This was not an easy book to listen to, but I definitely felt it was worth it. Minka does an excellent job at excavating her past and presenting it in a coherent and emotional manner. This was so much more than just a timeline of her childhood trauma, it was also clearly a journey of healing. I am a very nosy person and I enjoy getting to learn the inner workings of other people. This book was a fascinating and eye-opening read.
