This fast paced thriller just gets darker and deeper down a rabbit hole as it goes. The story revolves around Ash/Jack, who is put in a vulnerable position through his amnesia of not knowing who to believe or who has his best interests at heart - his girlfriend or his step sister. In an incredibly toxic environment, small town where everyone is in each others' business, and unable to untangle the web of lies from the truth, Ash struggles to determine his own past and how to begin his future.

In the end I wouldn't call this my favourite thriller, but it had some elements that kept me guessing and turning the pages. I was very tired of Maya halfway through, though I never fully trusted any of the characters. Part of wading through this story was figuring out who were the victims, who was gaslighting who, and what other secrets we were going to uncover. I do love secret past lives and a little spiciness, so overall the story did deliver on those points.

I did find it very unsatisfying that the disappearance of Jack on the beach never really tied into the plot, I had thought that this would have connected to the plot better
