Super creepy, at times gross, an interesting concept, and a fabulous ending.

A really good creature feature folk tale. If you enjoyed The VVitch, and The Lighthouse, you will enjoy this book.

loved it, main character was a bad ass, a little off her rockers half in a good sense. there was some humour at times; it was descriptive and kept you reading. i didn’t want to put it down at all, i was so invested. i loved the writing. it was a good ending

Wow, where to start with this little gem! I've been getting into horror novels lately and after seeing this recommended a few times on booktok, I decided it was time to give it a go!

Muriel is one of the last residents in Witchhaven, a small fishing village that is being bought up by a devious property developer. One day, she discovers something on the beach, something strange, something that may just help her keep this small town safe but with at a sinister cost.

This book is so good and is way too slept on! While it's packed full of action, suspense and body horror it is also hugely emotional. It's very short and the only reason it took me a few days to read is because my heart was breaking in parts! I wasn't expecting to be on the verge of teats reading a horror book. I loved Muriel and this story so much, and I'm so excited to read more from Sodergren!

If you're looking for something to pick up in the horror genre that's equal parts gore and emotional, I definitely recommend this!
