This has Groot AND Kitty Pryde in it. Why did you bother asking me to rate it?

A great big shoot-em-up. Well with some commentary on how often Kitty Pryde's costumes are. Not actually bad - it read pretty well - though I don't think this caught Kitty's voice. And her killing the Badoon the way she did was also out of character. But really this book wasn't bad. It just wasn't very interesting.

I can't say anything that other people haven't already said. It was fun. Not the most profound and there some parts that felt confusing or unnecessary (is no one talking about that weird moment with Thing and the prisoner lady though??? I thought that was a little random. I enjoy him being a part of the team though). I gotta say that Gamora was so cool, and, although this was my first time seeing Angela and due to them being in the middle of the action, all I got to see was her at her prime warrior of Asgard self, I can say that I have mega heart eyes for her.

The Guardians are all split up throughout this volume, so each issue ends up talking about a different set of characters and because of that I felt like I was reading the same thing over and over again.
They go to a planet, free the slaves and then it's the same thing in the next volume.
Overall, it was bleh and a little boring to read over and over again. Kitty Pryde was the best part of this volume for me and she was barely in it.
On the plus side, I really enjoy the art. It's beautiful.

I liked the New Guard series. Very action packed, and I really love this group together. Fascinating group dynamics

Bendis has a lot of fun in this volume and the feel of the issue is more of a planetary heist with the Guardians broken into pairs to fight a whole penitentiary planet. The art is beautiful and Bendis fully deploys the awesomeness of Kitty Pryde for the first time since joining the Guardians.

Meh... I honestly don't think BMB knows how to handle Guardians of the Galaxy... His entire run has been very hit and miss. Some great moments and then many shot falls.
