This Agatha Christie mystery – set during the Cold War – offers an intriguing puzzle with how the neighbourhood block (where the body is discovered) is laid out, and all the different figures involved. As was Christie's intention, my ideas/suspicions were pulled in many directions, but there were a couple points (out of many!) I did end up being correct about.
I didn't care so much for the love story angle – Christie has written better romances. I'm generally not that big a fan of damsel-in-distress type stories.

The Clocks is an interesting addition to the Hercule Poirot series. An old man had been murdered and it's up to Richard Hardcastle to figure out who killed him.
I was surprised to see someone besides Hercule take the ropes in solving the mystery, but a welcome temporary change.
