This was such a fantastic read. It’s like a cross between Harry Potter and Vampire Academy but with Sloane’s own unique supernatural twist to it.

17 year old Eden enrols at Black Water Academy after the death of her guardian, Dannika. Black Water Academy is a place where teen supernaturals go to hone in on their powers and learn how use and control them. Eden is a vampire but there is a lot more to her than meets the eye.

I love Sloane’s style of writing. It was written in first person and once again it was so easy to get swept away into a whole new world. I loved the characters, although I did wish for more character development, delving into their lives at the academy and more backstory but that’s just me being greedy and wanting more, more, more story! And no doubt we’ll find out more in the next book! Which, by the way, is it ready yet? I neeeed to know what happens after that twisty plot twist! I’m so impatient haha! I’m really intrigued by Ruby. She’s so peppy! It makes me wonder if she’s hiding something. I loved the romance in this book. I’m a sucker for romance and there’s a bit of a love triangle going on between Eden, Creed and Ethan. I was actually unsure about who I wanted Eden to get with and I’m still not entirely sure whether I trust Creed either. I know I’ve said it before but....is book two ready yet? If you love the supernatural/paranormal genre then this book is for you! I wholly recommend you read it!

I am new to Sloane Murphy, this blurb really caught my attention and I do love some PNR. I really enjoyed reading this. I loved the world building. It was complex and intriguing and I can't wait to learn more about these characters. This was definitely a great start to a new series that I am excited to read more of.

WOW!! This book was so good and it moved at warp speed. The story was gripping and I didn't want it to end. The characters were all strong and relatable. I kind of wanted to strangle someone when I got to the end because it left me dangling, but I can't wait to read more about these characters.

Interesting

A fairly typical YA PNR novel, following quite a formulaic recipe: an orphaned teen super-heroine with no support system whatsoever, who is introduced to her supernatural powers on her 18th birthday. Two ambiguous love interests? Checked. Heroine saving the day only to get into deep trouble? Checked. Extra points for unexpected allies.
I have to give the author credit for some world building - the supernatural species, the backstory, but I would have liked to see more of that - the limitations of the first person didn’t allow that and it’s a shame. The entire book is a single POV and, out of the blue, you get another in the last chapter.
I think the story has potential, but it just wasn’t exploited, and some of the elements just screamed cliche.
I didn’t particularly relate to any of the characters and though the heroine offers the premises of a brilliant character, she is underdeveloped.
All in all, I think it is a nice book for younger audiences and all the points I mentioned above as less than stellar can be easily fixed in the next-in-series.

Wow I loved this book so hard, Sloane is fast becoming my favourite PNR author!
This book sucked me in from start to finish and left me wanting more now! Eden is a vampire but she’s more but what?? That is the question I love Eden but I think creed is my favourite character for all I’m definitely rooting for him! This book has everything any PNR fan could want: suspense, romance, amazing characters and a supernatural academy. I highly recommend reading this book and every book Sloane Murphy has written ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After a lot of losses in her short life 17 year old Eden is old enough to go to Black Water Academy and she has secrets that can't be found out. There is a lot of mystery and intrigue and friendship and romance in Marked. Eden tries to be aloof but she gets to be friends with Ruby. And her guys so sweet hot and sexy I love Creed and Ethan and Cam and Kane.

Good paranormal academy story that isn't RH. I am so happy. I love academy stories but am kind of meh about RH yet sadly (for me) nearly all academy books now are RH.

Oh no! I just read the blurb for the next story - apparently it is RH. It was still a good story but I just want one where the heroine ends up with one guy (like Vampire Academy). If anyone knows of any feel free to post in the comments.

Marked is the first book that I’ve read by Sloane Murphy and man am I most definitely hooked.

I love paranormal romance stories and this one is right up there with one of the best ones I’ve read.

Eden is a seventeen year old girl who lost her mother only two years ago. She now attends the Black Water Academy where a mixture of different supernatural species attend between 17 and 21 to hone their powers and abilities.

I loved the back story and history that’s described of the vampires and supernatural species and I loved the mystery behind Eden.

There is an unexpected love triangle that happens between Eden and two other guys at her school.

I’m so seriously intrigued and can’t wait to read what happens next!

I’ve only previously read 1 book by Sloane Murphy but when this book came up for review I jumped t the chance. This book was right up my street. I will say the story was a bit slow going and it took me a while to get into but once I did I was hooked, I needed to keep reading to find out what was going to happen.
I will say it had a Harry Potter vibe to it. The house ceremony, sticking to your houses etc.
There was twists and turns at every corner, some I didn’t see coming.
Edens story, her life before and during Black Water Academy interested me a lot. She carries some dark secrets about her true identity and family and she can’t let people know.
I became addicted to the story and after the last page I need more!
I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!
